Job Description
The Supply Chain Manager oversees the purchasing, inventory, logistics and contracts business processes, ensuring that goods and services are delivered and maintained economically in support of the entire mining process.
Responsibilities
• Sets SCM methodologies, policies, procedures, and strategies established for Supply Chain Management (SCM) team, and ensures adherence to them.
• Leads all SCM functions to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
• Lead employee development and career guidance through mentoring and best practice.
• Communicates to, and manages SCM personnel while fostering an ethical, business-focused team environment.
• Drive inventory management and controls, ensuring that inventory obsolescence is managed.
• Works within the management team to ensure the timely, economic and ethical procurement processes.
• Collaborates with departments and stakeholders to ensure goods and services availability.
• Creates strategic business relationships with suppliers to ensure cost-effective product supply.
• Oversee the Contract life cycle, driving supplier performance and risk mitigation.
• Oversee the management of bulk commodities.
• Monitors SCM activities to ensure all functions are effectively working in support of the operation.
• Works with logistics providers to negotiate transportation contracts.
• Creation of annual budgets.
• Creates monitoring reports for department performance.
• Ensure process improvements and cost-saving initiatives are implemented.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry regulatory requirements.
• Support data-driven decisions using analytics, reporting and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Works closely with Auditors to ensure that internal controls are strictly followed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Some travel may be required.
Requirements
• 8+ years in a mining / manufacturing purchasing environment.
• Proven supply chain management skills with progressive responsibility.
• Proven leadership and employee development skills.
• Strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Hands-on experience with ERP and supply chain systems.
• Operational and capital budget development experience.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
• Higher learning / degree in business or supply chain management or equivalent preferred.
• Inventory control and/or purchasing certifications preferred.
