Double Down Heavy Repair is hiring an experienced Field Resident Technician to maintain and repair heavy equipment at a large open-pit mining operation. You will work at the customer’s mine site, diagnosing problems, completing repairs, and helping keep critical equipment operating safely.
Hands-on experience repairing heavy equipment, heavy trucks, drills, and shovels is required.
What you’ll do
- Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy mining equipment and support equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on drills, shovels, trucks, and other mine equipment.
- Respond to breakdowns and complete repairs to reduce equipment downtime.
- Document inspections, service, and repairs accurately.
- Communicate repair needs and priorities with mine personnel and Double Down management.
- Follow mine-site safety procedures and environmental requirements.
- Maintain a safe, organized work area and represent Double Down professionally at the customer site.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and heavy trucks.
- Previous hands-on drill and shovel repair experience.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical information.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with mine personnel and other technicians.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work extended shifts and rotate between day and night schedules.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Open-pit mining experience is preferred.
Schedule, pay, and benefits
This position follows a roaring 5/4 rotation, switching between one month of day shifts and one month of night shifts. Candidates must be willing to work both rotations.
Pay is $45–$55 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Double Down Heavy Repair offers medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k); and short- and long-term disability options.
