Double Down Heavy Repair is seeking an experienced Traveling Exploration Drilling Technician to support a key customer’s operations at jobsites throughout the Western United States.
You will maintain, diagnose, and repair exploration drilling rigs and the trucks, pumps, generators, and other equipment that supports drilling operations. You will work closely with the same customer while traveling between their jobsites. Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing exploration drilling equipment is required.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair exploration drilling rigs and support equipment.
- Troubleshoot diesel engines and mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Inspect and repair trucks, pumps, generators, compressors, and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service.
- Respond to breakdowns and complete field repairs to reduce downtime.
- Work with customer personnel and Double Down management to identify equipment issues and prioritize repairs.
- Maintain accurate service and repair documentation.
- Follow jobsite safety requirements and maintain a safe, organized work area.
- Travel between customer jobsites and represent Double Down professionally.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing exploration drilling rigs and support equipment is required.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel-powered equipment in the field.
- Ability to work independently in remote locations and changing jobsite conditions.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the Western United States.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Experience repairing trucks, pumps, generators, and compressors is highly valued.
Schedule and travel
This position requires significant travel between customer jobsites throughout the Western United States. Scheduling is flexible and will be discussed based on your availability, customer needs, and project schedules. The technician must be able to respond to changing equipment and jobsite needs.
Pay and benefits
Pay is $45–$55 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Double Down Heavy Repair offers medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k); and short- and long-term disability options.
