Job Summary
Walker Lane Mining LLC is seeking a Surveyor to support mining operations by producing and interpreting accurate field data derived from GPS instruments as well as drone systems. This role is also responsible for staking out field work and interacting with a mining contractor.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all MSHA safety regulations and company policies
Survey dig faces, dumps, stockpiles and other areas using GPS instruments
Monitor mining progress and communicate necessary corrections to maintain design adherence
Perform field staking and layout and confirm accuracy upon completion
Survey construction projects including roads, power, water systems, and site infrastructure
Update and maintain accurate mine maps and survey data
Utilize mine software to generate volume calculations for leach pads, stockpiles, and waste dumps
Manage and maintain survey files, including naming, storage, and updates
Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
Qualifications
Previous surveying experience preferred (mining experience a plus)
Previous use of drafting and/or geospatial programs (AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, Vulcan, Minesight) preferred
Basic math and computer skills (training will be provided)
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Valid Driver’s License required
Work Conditions
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to work on uneven terrain including slopes and rugged ground
Flexibility to work occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Required to wear PPE including safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, and respirator as needed
