Position: Underground Senior Geologist
The Senior Underground Mine Geologist will play a key role in driving operational excellence and supporting our team’s growth objectives. This position requires a strong background in production geology, ore and grade control, and reconciliation. The successful candidate will lead and mentor mine geologists in face sampling, mapping, and grade control practices, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in underground operations. The role involves close collaboration with exploration, engineering, operations, administration, technical teams, and management to develop and maintain short and long-term mine plans, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and life-of-mine schedules. Promote proactive safety culture through engagement in safety initiatives and compliance with company health, safety, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities:
● Assist the Technical team with ensuring the safe and efficient operation of ongoing exploration, development and operational responsibilities for the underground geology team.
● Develop, execute and optimize an underground grade control program aligned with the project schedule.
● Implement programs for operational readiness of the ore control geology team aligned with the project schedule.
● Supervision of the underground geology team to ensure safe and effective collection of geologic data and performance of tasks, as well as ongoing training and development.
● Responsible for the development, maintenance and optimization of a geologic production database and QAQC of data entry to ensure accuracy of information delivered to all stakeholders.
● Generate Ore Projections for mining levels and grade forecast for engineering.
● Responsible for Monthly Reconciliation and Mine to Mill Reconciliation.
● Track stockpiles grade, tonnage, sulfide/oxide content to maximize recovery with accurate ore blending.
● Oversee a diverse team of 1-2 Ore Control Geologists
● Be a proactive member of the technical and operations team
● Other duties as assigned to support Granite Creek and i-80 Gold Corp
● Track key performance indicators and provide management with regular project and objective updates for review and reporting purposes.
● Responsible for assisting in or managing the creation, oversight and compliance to a departmental budget.
● Perform and direct work in compliance with Health and Safety policies.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field
● Excellent safety record required.
● 7-10 years of demonstrated progressive experience in underground mine geology
● Management experience preferred.
● Ability to work within a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
Capable of using the latest computer & software technologies such as Microsoft Office products and mining programs such as Vulcan, Leapfrog, Deswik and Acquire.
● Highly effective organizational and time management skills.
● Ability to take initiative and work independently in a results-oriented environment.
● Knowledge or experience in Carlin Type deposits preferred.
● Understanding of mining operations and drill techniques preferred.
● Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
● Ability to walk up, down, and over rough terrain.
● Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. throughout the day
