Environmental Engineer:
i-80 Gold Corp is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Environmental Engineer. This position will be responsible for management of the regulatory permitting, reporting, and compliance for active mining operations and development projects. The successful candidate will ensure that all legal and other compliance obligations of the mine are achieved.
Location: Ruby Hill Mine, Eureka, Nevada
Responsibilities
• Management of regulatory permitting, reporting, and compliance for active mining operations and development projects.
• A working knowledge and understanding of specific environmental media including wildlife, waste, air, water, and land.
• Collect, track, and evaluate monitoring data as needed for regulatory reporting.
• Preparation of regulatory reports.
• Technical knowledge of the mine site operational aspects.
• Clear understanding of all applicable requirements for permitted systems.
• Conduct/participate in inspections of site operations to ensure permit compliance with regulatory requirements and other legal obligations
• Accompany regulatory agency inspectors on periodic inspections of the work areas across the mine site.
• Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders and regulatory agency personnel.
• Responsible for periodic, after-hours on-call response to environmental incidents as needed.
• Ability to regularly walk over uneven, sloped, rocky, wet, or icy ground and the ability to lift 50 or more pounds consistently and safely.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ environmental related experience in an active mining setting required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science/Engineering or comparable subject matter required.
• Knowledge of regulatory programs and permitting (particularly air, water, and waste) within Nevada at both the state (NDEP) and federal level (EPA) as well as previous experience interacting with regulatory agencies is highly preferred.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Computer skills including experience with PowerPoint, Word & Excel required, database management system experience preferred
• Possession of a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
