Duties: Incumbent locates, lays out, machines and drills foundations from various components
such as pumps, engines, electronic cubicles, compressors, generators and other similar machinery. Installs, disassembles, repairs, overhauls, aligns, reassembles and tests various types of machinery. Machinery such as main turbines, turbo-generators, reduction gears, main shafting components, propellers, diesel engines, motor blowers, pumps, compressors, planes, steering gears, hatches, periscopes, masts, torpedo tubes, sonar and other similar machinery.
Aligns and connects these components to the associated piping systems.
Piping systems such as steam, air, water, fuel, lubricating and hydraulic lines.
Performs work on various controls that regulate multiple safety devices.
Devices such as valves, reliefs, safeties, governors, regulators, alarms, meters and gages
while making adjustments and settings.
Performs on-the-site machining utilizing portable boring, facing, turning and milling machines
to restore components to original specifications.
Precision, fits by scraping, lapping, stoning, sanding and filing various component parts
such as valves, bearings, seals, shafts, chocks, flanges, etc.
May be trained and qualified to operate air compressors and diesel engines.
