About
Hello, I am new to Reno and looking for my next endeavor. As a social worker, much of my career has focused on helping children, teens, and adults navigate systems to further their educational and employment goals, as well as secure resources needed for emotional and physical well-being. Previous employers include Fresno County Department of Children & Family Services, and Aspiranet (Foster Care, Adoption, Transitional Housing) in California, and BakerRipley (Community Development) in Texas.
With BakerRipley, serving as the Director for Grants & Vitality (reporting to the VP for Community Impact & Vitality), I have had the pleasure of cultivating relationships with our Executive, Divisional, and Administrative leadership teams, and partners, to assist our program teams in securing the resources required to advance BakerRipley’s vision to “Crush Inequities” in the Houston region. My focus on grantmaking required a fast-paced coordination of efforts and heavy project management. During my time with BakerRipley, my team led the creation and submission of over 75 grant proposals with as high as an 80% win rate, securing more than $423 million in new and defended program funding.
As Aspiranet’s Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Division Director, I oversaw 11 locations across California, providing housing and supportive services programs for young adults exiting the foster care system, aligning Aspiranet’s goal to help participants move “Hope Forward” with resources to thrive in their communities. Managing innovative start-up programming in California (THPP-NMD), my teams exceeded performance targets, growing the division from 6 to 11 locations, making Aspiranet the largest California provider of young adult housing programs. With a $17-20 million annual Division budget, I built teams through active recruitment, training, professional development, and performance management. I also supervised up to 3 Community Advocates (stationed in Northern, Central, and Southern California), focused on donorship, volunteers, philanthropy, fundraising events, legislative advocacy, and elected official engagement.
I am well versed in strategic planning, process improvement, and project management. I have years of experience working hybrid/remote schedules. I employ a communication style that is motivational and strengths-based. I engage staff in a professional manner to establish workload priorities, meet deadlines, and support teams with critical needs. I consistently lead teams with initiative, flexibility, and sound judgment. As a seasoned supervisor with over 25 years of experience, I understand the nuances in ensuring successful interpersonal and productive experiences with my team members. I believe that great outcomes are achieved when we engage and develop staff, laugh together and support each other, cultivate relationships, and serve with integrity, value, and respect. Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to discussing this opportunity with you.
