Position: General Manager – Ruby Hill
i-80 Gold Corp is seeking a motivated and proactive individual to fill the position of General Manager for our Ruby Hill Site outside of Eureka, NV including the Archimedes Underground Mine. This position will be the site leader responsible for advancing the Archimedes Underground Mine from development into production. The Ruby Hill Site is also host to the company’s Mineral Point Open Pit Project and this position will play a key role advancing Mineral Point through technical studies, community relations and permitting.
Site: Ruby Hill / Archimedes Underground, Eureka, NV
The Ruby Hill Site is part of the historic Eureka district with precious and base metal mining dating back to the 1860’s. The Archimedes Open Pit was mined by multiple operators from 1997 through 2021 with heap leach recovery continuing today. Archimedes Underground will access over one million ounces of gold resource via portals in the Archimedes pit. Mine development was initiated in September 2025 with first ore expected in min-2026. Production will ramp up through the remainder of 2026 and 2027 to approximately 1800 ore tons per day by the end of 2027. The Mineral Point Open Pit is host to over 5 million ounces of estimated gold resources presently identified and will ultimately become i-80’s flagship operation.
Responsibilities:
- Champion safety and environmental stewardship for the project.
- Own and execute the project development schedule.
- Develop requests for proposals, analyze bids and select contractors in collaboration with i-80 technical and financial staff.
- Lead the project employees and ensure that contractors, consultants, and all other visitors are oriented and can work safely and efficiently.
- Manage the contract performance of the underground mine developer
- Build a technical and support team for the underground project to work with the contract mine developer presently in place.
- Manage existing and growing workforce for the underground project in support of the mine operations contractor.
- Oversight of existing heap leach operation.
- Work with regulatory and other government entities (e.g., MSHA, BLM, NDEP, County, City/Town, etc.) to advance the project.
- Lead budget and forecasting for the site.
- Frequent collaboration with i-80 technical, executive, and financial staff.
- Represent i-80 and our commitments to the surrounding communities.
- Report to the VP Operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in 15+ years of underground mining experience, including 5+ years in operations direct supervisory and leadership roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Geology, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Experienced in managing mining and construction contracts.
- Demonstrated safety and environmental leadership knowledge and successes.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Must have experiencing interfacing with regulatory and other government entities for mining (e.g., MSHA, BLM, NDEP, County, City/Town, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft software applications and network platforms.
- Experienced with mine dewatering.
- Working knowledge of processing and metallurgical aspects of Carlin-style Nevada gold deposits.
- Ability to travel for business purposes, primarily in Nevada.
