Role
We are seeking a Shift Supervisor to join our Lithium Carbonate Process Plant team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and effective participation in the commissioning, start-up, and steady state operation of the processing facility. You will lead the day-to-day operation of the lithium carbonate process plant, ensure adherence to safety and quality standards and drive performance through continuous improvement. The role is based at Thacker Pass and reports to the Process Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships across all teams while championing a culture that reflects and supports our Purpose, Vision, and Values
- Oversee safe and efficient operation of mineral beneficiation, classification, leaching, neutralization, purification, filtration, crystallization and packaging circuits
- Support commissioning, start-up, ramp-up, and transition to steady-state operations, including procedure development, system walkdowns, and operational readiness activities
- Enforce all safety, health and environmental regulations and company policies through active field presence and leadership
- Supervise and coordinate all process operation activities of hourly production operators to meet daily production targets (Quantity, Quality, On-Time Delivery)
- Monitor key performance indicators, troubleshoot issues to minimize process impacts and work with engineering and maintenance to optimize overall equipment efficiency
- Support and/or lead investigations for safety, environmental, production and other incidents that occur
- Conduct Root Cause Analyses, develop and implement appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Conduct pre-shift safety meetings, field audits and routine inspections to reinforce safe work practices and operational discipline
- Manage shift rosters, attendance, and workforce allocation across different circuits to support safe and efficient operations
- Provide clear and concise instructions and updates during shift handovers
- Supervise and mentor Lithium Carbonate Process Operators including coaching, performance feedback and evaluations and addressing behavioral or conduct issues in alignment with HR policies and procedures
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Prepare and maintain accurate shift reports, production summaries, and incident documentation
- Communicate plant performance, issues, and improvement opportunities to management and technical teams
- Act as the senior operational decision-maker on shift, escalating issues as appropriate while ensuring safe and continuous operations
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure operational consistency and maximize throughput and recovery
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in mineral processing or chemical manufacturing.
- 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory position.
- Strong technical knowledge of equipment and unit operations in a chemical manufacturing plant or similar production environment.
- Proficiency with plant control systems (DCS) and laboratory data interpretation.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing teams in a shift-based or continuous operation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays).
