Now Hiring: Job Opening – Underground Superintendent

MKD Construction, Inc. is a Nevada-based contractor specializing exclusively in public works infrastructure projects. We are seeking an experienced Underground Superintendent to oversee public works sewer and underground utility construction in Northern Nevada.
This position will manage daily field operations on complex sewer replacement projects involving deep sewer installation, traffic control within active roadways, bypass pumping, and jack-and-bore operations. The Superintendent will serve as the primary on-site representative coordinating with public agencies, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal project management.
Project Scope Highlights:
- Sewer replacement and upsizing projects
- Deep sewer installations
- Open trench and jack-and-bore construction methods
- Installation of new manholes and abandonment/removal of existing infrastructure
- Bypass pumping, lateral reconnections, and surface restoration
- Work performed within active traffic corridors
- Prevailing wage, public agency inspected projects
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage all on-site underground construction activities
- Coordinate daily operations with project managers, inspectors, and agency representatives
- Ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, permits, and contract requirements
- Oversee deep excavation operations, shoring, trench safety, and bypass pumping
- Coordinate traffic control, inspections, and utility conflicts
- Enforce all safety policies and maintain a safe job site
- Schedule crews, equipment, and subcontractors
- Maintain daily reports and document project progress and field conditions
- Resolve field issues and ensure quality control and timely completion
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as an Underground Superintendent on public works sewer projects
- Strong experience with deep sewer installation, shoring systems, and bypass pumping
- Experience with jack-and-bore operations preferred
- Proven ability to manage work within traffic-controlled environments
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Familiarity with public agency inspection and documentation requirements
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license
- OSHA 30 preferred
